EVOLUTION'S ROLE IN CREATION
AND IN OUR LIVES TODAY

Scripture tells us that our human ability to understand God's creation increases over the generations, and in our lives, as we are ready to understtand it.

God's Great Game of Life uses the process we call evolution to create this wonderful world of beauty and marvels that He gives us to enjoy, as composers give us music to enjoy.

(Psalm 100)

The balance between evolution's instinct for loving care and evolution's instinct for merciless competition are both part of the process that perfects and replaces species.

We left the Eden of peace and love when some of us became motivated by greed in the ruthless competition that was meant only for animals.
(Ephesians 1:16-2:26)

Cain, the farmer, murdered his herdsman brother Abel out of jealousy, and was banished east of Eden where he built a city in Nod, the land of wanderers.
(Genesis 4:1-16)

A people who were wanderers came upon a walled city to live in and prospered there with fields, vinyards, and livestock that supported very large families.
(Psalm 107)

Some 15,000 yeare ago, in the warming Holocene climate, we left the Ice Age caves where our uniquely intelligent, creative species had first appeared on this earth, and were able to do wonderful paintings of animals on the cave walls.

Twelve-thousand years ago, while still hunter-gatherers, we built gathering places of gigantic carved stones for the seasonal gatherings of the different families. The oldest of these megalithic sites we have found is Göbekli Tepe in southern Turkey.

When we became settled farmers, the megaliths fell into disuse. Instead, we had seasonal country fairs. Each community had its own place of worship and objects of worship that it made.

When different families lived together in villages, evolution's competitive, greed-driven instincts emerged that were intended only for the poerfection animals. Among the village neighbors, there was envy, deceit, theft, adultery, and murder.

Commandments, laws, and the warnings of the prophets had little effect on what was being called 'human nature'. A popular teacher said the only way to live in contentment was to have love among people. This went contrary to the vested interests of those exploiting the powerless, and the Teacher was crucified to shut him up.

People who speak for the powerless are still being killed by those who want to profit from despoiling the land

The village farmer's harvests and livestock attracted raiders, who also carried off people to be slaves.

The villagers built walls and the walled villages grew into the walled city kingdoms of tribes. and the tribal walled cities waged genocidal wars on each other.

Some people were attracted to the excitement and personal glory of war. Others people sought loot or revenge. When it was a competitions to the death, winner take all, everyone in the loser's city would be killed. It is from this risk, that the finest young men are used for war
(2nd Judges)

Victorious walled cities expanded into nations and victorious nations expanded into empires.

The ever-enlarging cities pillaged the world's resources. When the surrounding resources were used up, or pollution made them uninhabitable, the huge cities were abandonned, leaving ruins all over the world for archeologists to find and excavate.

We have increasingly understood the process of this unique planet's physcal creation, which took billions of years by our traditional way of calculating time.

Recently, some scientists have proposed that our 'time' is an illusion of our consciousness, like illuminating of the frames in a movie film. A movie projector was the illustration for that concept in NOVA Season 38, Episode 17, 'The Fabric of the Cosmos: The Illusion of Time'.
(2nd Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4)

Prophets may see time ahead of the time they are living in. Some people who experience this call it "remembering the future."

We have come to accept that life on this planet has been continually changing to survive challenges and exploit new opportunities,

This process includes competition and conflict between and within species. Often used is mate selection based on aesthetics and resources. In humankind, we often see females choosing for resources and males choosing for beauty, each to improve their chance of passing on their genes.

In some species where the males compete in strength and fighting skills for the right to mate, females will slip off to mate with a more attractive competitor.

Much of the beauty we appreciate in other species is due to aesthetic discernment in mate selection based variously on appearance, performance, and vocalization.

There seems to be a universal aesthetic of beauty that selects, perfects, and then replaces species.

Can nudibranch (shelless sea slugs) possibly know how marvelously beautiful they are to select the mates that perfected and perpetuate this beauty? Or does God enjoy designing them?

Science cannot explain how entirely new species, with no predecessors, suddenly appear after the periodic mass extinctions which free up habitats and resources. This been called punctuated equilibrium, but might be called ' A Deluge Redesign Effect'.

Perhaps Genesis never ended, and new life forms are created when this continually changing planet has an ecological place for them, as the world was ready for us with an ideal Holocene climate, when we emerged from the Ice Age caves.

We are the first and only species to have the range of intellect, curiosity, and aesthetic sensibility to fully appreciate and enjoy all the beauty and wonders of this world.

Learning from what we observed in nature, we used our intellect and imagination to create technical marvels.

After putting walls around our tribal villages, we became builders of fortresses, castles, cathedrals, sports stadiums, and skyscrapers.

In the continual conflict many humans find irresistable, weapons had their own predictable evolution from stone spearheads to atomic warheads

Our development of technology has become so fast that we went from Kitty Hawk to the Moon in just 66 years, using rocket technology designed to carry nuclear weapons.

Even more quickly, we progressed from Apple's original Mac personal computer in 1984, to the first Apple smart phone in 2007. Smart phones are now in pockets around the world, with the internet connecting them.

Cyber technology was soon running our businesses, infrastructure, governments and military, creating the opportunity for cyber crime, sabotage and espionage.
.
Ephemeral companies use on-line marketing to sell defective and counterfeit products.

Social media provides a way to slander people and spread lies.

Big Data gathers up and monitizes everything about us.

Social media companies are continually improving the algorithms that addict us and our children to watching them, so they can manipulate how we think, buy and vote

The Internet of Everything controls our homes and lives with video, microphones and speakers connecting us to artificially intelligent cyber assistants.

The Internet of Everything controls our homes and lives with video, microphones and speakers connecting us to artificially intelligent cyber assistants.

Robots do more and more of the work we once did, from assebling cars. to bringing meals in hospitals.

Greed for maximum profit outsources to wherever is cheapest, creating the exploitation of very low paid labor in distant lands, and the loss of living wage employment in developed countries.

Things our lives depend on like medicines have no quality control and unreliable supply chains, as was exposed in the coronavirus panndemic.

Debt that can never be repaid has been created by the leveraged buying of corporations, consumer credit cards, borrowing for education and medical care, and the deficit funding of the government and its military.

This debt burden can only be serviced and repaid with cheap or even valueless money achieved with inflation.

America has the world's most powerful military. Its most profitable export is weapons. The first pandemic of the 21st Century has exposed America's financial weakness, and America may no longer be able to borrow the limitless amounts of money from other countries it needs to cover its debts and deficits spending

That would be a slow collapse of the world's mightiest military empire. But a Cyber Apocalypse could destroy the modern civilizations in a minute.

Cyber's Artificial Intelligence controls the technology that controls every aspect of our infrastructure and thus of our lives, in this Technocene age .

This dependence puts us in constant danger of a universal Cyber Apocalypse from a long overdue massive solar flare, like the geomagnetic storm September 1–2, 1859.

A similar solar coronal mass ejection (CME) hitting earth's magnetosphere today would cause a geomagnetic storm that would destroy our very vulnerable Cyber technology. Smaller solar flares have destroyed electronics in satellites

So here we are today, having used our intelligence, curiosity and creativity to put those of our species who live in the technical world, in daily danger of annhilation from our weapons, or the failure of our Cyber technology

Until now the presence of evil has been attributed in Scriptures to Satan, or still unexplained 'human nature'.

We can now propose that what is called evil is just one part of evolutiion's instincts in God's Great Game of Life that have perfected the myriad species in this wonderus world, but the instincts for merciless competition were never intended for us. We were intended to live in contentment and enjoy the world.
(Matthew 6:28 Psalm 100)

In our Cyber dependent Technocene, we are Noahs on a leaky ark watching the water rise.

BIO NOTE:
.
I am a pilgrim on a journey to an unknown land, seeking for something I cannot define.
.
Now in my 8th decade, I am beginning to find in the wisdom and scholarship of the ages, in modern science, in my own experiences in life, and in blessed solitude to commune with the Holy Spirit, some of the understanding I have been seeking.

The isolated, self-reliant people who could survive a Cyber Apocalypse are being dispossed and put into settlements, or killed, by the exploiters of the unspoiled land these people protect.

In the stillness of Blessed Solitude,
may come answers to ancient mysteries..
